So when someone says "Let's go to Central Florida"...most everyone thinks of the tourist attractions including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld of Florida, Wet'n Wild, Cypress Gardens, Kennedy Space Center, and many, many more places to visit as a tourist!
However, as someone who lives in the Greater Orlando/Longwood area, I find it even more interesting for many different reasons other than the tourist attractions! And here are several of those reasons. The State of Florida is blessed with many, many resources for visitation including lovely cities, retirement communities, beaches, lakes, parks, wildlife preserves, state parks, rivers, flowers, plants, animals, historical sites, golf courses, major colleges and on and on...that are present throughout this beautiful State. And Central Florida being located in a central part of the state offers the opportunity to visit a larger number of key places within 2 to 3 hours driving time...and many less than that. The point is that Central Florida and especially Orlando, is a great jumping off spot to travel to so many interesting areas including Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Daytona and Daytona Beach, New Syrmna Beach, Kennedy Space Center, Melbourne, Cocoa Beach, Vero Beach, Boca Raton, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami and Miami Beach, Key West, Naples, Ft. Myers, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, Clearwater Beach, Tampa, Gainesville, Tallahassee, The Villages, Ocala, Silver Springs, Winter Haven, Lakeland and many other lovely communities.
And it is important to mention many major colleges in Central Florida including the University of Central Florida, University of Florida, Florida State University, Rollins College, Stetson University, University of South Florida, University of Miami, Florida Atlantic University, University of North Florida, Bethune Cookman College, New College of Florida, Emery Riddle, University of Tampa, Florida Institute of Technology and more.
With such wonderful weather most of the year round, golfers have a field day playing more than 100 excellent golf courses located in the Central Florida area...and this number does not include those community courses found in retiremement communities like The Villages, Royal Highlands and hundreds of others.
Given this wide variety and large number of interesting places in Central Florida, all of which are in addition to the Tourist Attractions, there are always many places to go and activities to enjoy.
Recently a social networking site was introduced to the area by the name of
Central Florida Social.com and an internet address of http://CentralFloridaSocial.com. The purposes of this site are to provide enhanced communication, news and information to the residents and visitors of Florida, and particularly the Central Florida area. As one can see, there are more than enough activities and places to keep up with here. An internet social site focused on providing information across the area including major cities, towns, retirement communities, organizations, special interest groups and friends will be well received.
An example of activities that many people would never hear about without this new internet site is http://CentralFloridaSocial.com which is sponsoring a group cruise to the Bahama Islands on November 6-9, 2009. Internationally known Jay Golden PGA golfer will be a Social Consultant aboard the cruise offering golf instruction, lecturing and comedy entertainment. Norma Hunter, Social Consultant, will provide musical entertainment, dance contests, and activities for those who want to be involved.
There are many, many activities for pleasure and enjoyment in Florida, beyond the tourist attractions, and finding those activities and places can be very interesting and challenging. Perhaps this is a door-opener to you as to how to increase your knowledge and awareness as to the interesting and exciting places and activities in Florida.
Desirably, this information is enlightening for many who have never visited the Florida area and are considering doing so for vacation of relocation purposes.
